LEARN ABOUT ME AND MY WORK

Dr. Gregorio Pablo Rodríguez-Arbolay (he/they)

Hello! I’m Gregorio Pablo, an educator, writer, researcher, and cultural curator based in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang [colonially known as Montréal]. Born and raised in The Bronx, NYC (Lenape Tribe Lands), I've previously lived and studied in the Netherlands, Germany, and the UK. I am the Founder and Lead Curator of CultureQueer, and eagerly invite new collaborators to join our project!

Trained as a historian, I have a PhD in Cultural and Media History from Concordia University, where I taught as a part-time lecturer in Art History and Sexuality Studies. My academic work and cultural curation explores the complex histories of Black and racialized 2SLGBTQ+ visibility and representation in Québécois visual culture.

I have published my historical research on race and queerness in Québécois film, video, and TV in various journals and am currently working on a book manuscript on queer of colour visual cultures in Québec. I am passionate about curating public programming on queer diasporic art and culture such as film screenings/festivals and artist talks.

I am currently a professor of Humanities at John Abbott College and serve on the Core Committee of MediaQueer.
